What Can I See at the Acropolis?
The Acropolis is more than just one old building — it’s a whole hill full of amazing ancient places! Let’s explore what you’ll find when you visit:
🏗️ The Parthenon
The Parthenon is the biggest and most famous temple on the Acropolis.
It was built more than 2,400 years ago using white marble and was made for Athena, the goddess who protected Athens.
Even though some parts are broken, it’s still one of the most beautiful buildings in the world!
👩🦰 The Erechtheion and the Caryatids
The Erechtheion is a temple with something very special:
Instead of plain columns, one part of the roof is held up by Caryatids — tall statues of women!
Each one is different and full of details. They are one of the coolest things to see.
🕊️ The Temple of Athena Nike
This is a small but beautiful temple that sits on the edge of a high wall.
It was made to honor Athena as the goddess of victory (that’s what “Nike” means in Greek).
It’s tiny compared to the Parthenon, but it has great views of the city!
🚪 The Propylaea
The Propylaea is like the front gate of the Acropolis.
It’s a grand entrance with big stone steps and huge columns that welcome you into the sacred hill.
